Lucas Hirata partners with multi-functional and cross-organizational teams worldwide, developing visions, strategies and shipping products that help millions of people every day.


At the Google hardware division, Lucas is responsible for work in multiple disciplines such as UX, Multi-interaction models (voice, dpad, touch, gestures, sensors), VsD, and OS Frameworks. He led the Design for Android TV, the OS running on millions of TVs around the world. He was also responsible for creating the Design Framework for Assistant on TVs, a platform that empowers brands/users with Google Assistant.

More recently, he drove ideation and development for a new category of products called Smart Displays. Now his primary focus is on shipping new products & growth initiatives.
Background

Before Google, Lucas was a Creative Director helping brands like Apple, Coke, CNN, Hulu, Fox, FX, Lexus, Nintendo, Target, Toyota. See his past work.


With a career of 20+ years, he is a Brazilian/Japanese who grew up in a diverse cultural environment. That plurality made him passionate about how new interaction models and technologies shape the way people relate to each other, to objects and ideas.
He believes in education and communication as the agents that shape us into better human beings.
