FOX decided to rebuild its VOD platforms from scratch. First, I tackled the iOS apps.
Considering FOX only has 20 to 30 shows and people only follow a few of them, I decide to design a really simple feed composed of shows the user follows, video suggestions and featured content. The user is able to pick the shows he or she likes the most during onboarding. Using that information, we were able to offer content based in the user taste.
For fans who want more than videos, the app offers cast information, clips, a shopping experience and social content as well. Certain episodes also offer an engaging companion experience that syncs with TV, enriching the live experience with trivias, polls, curiosities and so on. Since launch, the iOS app’s ratings improved from 2.5 to 4.5 stars on iTunes and increased in 1000% the number of episode views.
